AEON Japanese Mie Fair Opening Ceremony

AEON and Mie Prefecture jointly organise the "AEON Japanese Mie Fair" in Kornhill Store during 20-24 January to promote the region's tourism and products. The event has introduced to customers in Hong Kong a variety of specialty food products and the tourism information of Mie.

The official opening ceremony was held on 20 January, officiated by guests including Mr. Eikei Suzuki, Governor of Mie Prefecture, and Mr. Masato Takegami, Mayor of Matsusaka City, together with Ms. Christine Chan, Managing Director of AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited.

Located in the centre of Japan, Mie Prefecture is an important link between east and west Japan, said Mr. Suzuki. Besides, the region has beautiful nature and many tourism attractions, such as Ise Grand Shrine and Kumano Kudo. It has further raised its profiie by hosting the coming G7 Summit on 26-27 May, 2016.

During the ceremony, the guests and the audience had a chance to taste "Matsusaka Beef", the renowned Wagyu (Japanese beef) originated from Matsusaka region of Mie Prefecture, which was imported to Hong Kong for the first time. To mark this occassion, Mr. Takegami said that they had selected the highest grade products which is especially tender and has the best fat-to-meat ratio. It is hoped that this spectacular event has given shoppers a chance to discover the rich culture and exquisite cuisine of Mie.
