AEON STORES ONCE AGAIN WINS "HONG KONG AND MACAU MERCHANTS OF INTEGRITY AWARD" AND MAKES "MY FAVOURITE TOP TEN BRANDS OF HONG KONG"

(HONG KONG, 20 January 2006) -- General Merchandise Stores ("GMS") operator AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited ("AEON Stores" or the "Group") (Stock code: 984) is pleased to announce that it is one of the winners of "The Third Hong Kong Merchants of Integrity Award" in the "Department Stores and Gifts" category for the third consecutive year and has been named as one of the "My Favourite Top Ten Brands of Hong Kong". Both awards were organised by the Guangzhou Daily.

Sixty-nine merchants from Hong Kong and 25 from Macau in 18 different business categories participated in the poll, in which 44 merchants from Hong Kong and 11 from Macau received the "Hong Kong and Macau Merchants of Integrity Award". Ten merchants from the two cities respectively made it into the "My Favourite Top Ten Brands of Hong Kong and Macau". Conducted between 9 and 28 December 2005, the poll collected votes from over 100,000 citizens in Southern China and recognized enterprises committed to providing high quality products and earnest services to customers.

Mr. Naoyuki Miyashita, Managing Director of AEON Stores, said, "This is our great honour to receive the accreditations, which is solid evidence of strong reputation the Group's brand and the recognition it enjoys among customers in Southern China.
