On 11th April - "AEON Day", AEON volunteer team visited Po Leung Kuk Lau Chan Siu Po District Elderly Community Centre, joining the elderly there in a fabric recycling workshop.
This activity is part of the "Community Go Green Project", organised by Po Leung Kuk and sponsored by AEON Stores (Hong Kong) Co., Limited. The participating elderly are "Go Green Ambassadors" from 13 elderly centres. They learn different environmental-friendly skills in various workshops and then teach other members in their centres to promote green lifestyle.
AEON volunteers joined with the elderly to learn about different types of fabric and tools, and how to create different fabric products and patchwork fabric using recycled materials. They had a great time together creating beautiful fabric products, and before the end of the activity, the volunteers and the elderly gave each other some gifts to share the joy.
This activity has not only promoted the concept of waste reduction and resource recycling, but has also provided an opportunity for the volunteers to get in touch with and care for the elderly.
