AEON Day: St. James Settlement Community Visit Day

"Art‧Love‧In community", a social inclusion programme organized by St. James Settlement and sponsored by AEON, is implementing in 2018. The programme serves as a platform for the disabled to demonstrate their art ability in art classes, wall painting activities and artwork exhibitions.

On the AEON Day of September, AEON staff and rehabilitated persons from St. James Settlement formed a volunteer team and divided into several groups to visit the elderly and patients who are living in Wan Chai and Shau Kei Wan Districts, bringing together with the hand-made art pieces by the rehabilitated persons as a loving gift to the needy.

During the visit, volunteers chated with the elderly and introduced the "Funeral Navigation Service" which aims to assist the elderly to pre-plan for their funeral and provide related assistance services to them. At the end, festive gifts and the art pieces hand-made by the rehabilitated persons were presented to the elderly as an early blessing for the coming Mid-Autumn Festival.

Through this activity, both AEON volunteers and the rehabilitated persons did not merely understand more on the needs of the elderly, but also had a chance to communicate with each other, hence creating a caring and harmonious society which marked the activity more meaningful.
