This scholarship is mainly awarded to bachelor students studying Japanese studies, Business & Economics or Engineering to meet the development needs of Hong Kong and cultivate more professionals in related fields. The AEON Scholarship 2019/20 was awarded to 20 bachelor students in May this year, and each received a scholarship of HK$10,000. In view of the current epidemic situation in Hong Kong, the original planned award ceremony was cancelled and in replace of shooting an appreciation video, which will be broadcast on the Internet afterwards. Mr. Nakagawa Isei, the Managing Director of AEON Store (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., said in his speech: "As a continuously innovating corporation, AEON has always been actively practicing the central core of its philosophy — in pursuit of “peace”, respect for “humanity” and making “contribution” to the community. In 1958, the Group formed an association called “風樹会” and began to provide five high school students with scholarships equivalent to one month's tuition every month. The action then passed on to various group companies in the form of "AEON Scholarship", and continued to provide support to outstanding students from all over Asia who aim to become international professionals. This time, we cooperated with the University of Hong Kong — the oldest tertiary education institution in Hong Kong, and set up “AEON Scholarship”. We hope that the scholarship will help every talented student to realize their dreams and act as a bridge to facilitate useful exchange of views between Asian countries."
