AEON Volunteer Team X AEON Cheers Club: Wu Kai Sha Beach Cleanup Day

In September, AEON and Green Council jointly held a beach cleanup day. 12 AEON employee volunteers led 16 young members of the AEON Cheers Club in each store to form a volunteer team and came to Wu Kai Sha Beach to carry out a beach cleaning campaign to contribute to the environment. Adults and children work together to clean up the garbage on the beach and record the data. In just one hour, 6 kg of rubbish were collected. There were all kinds of rubbish scattered on the beach, among which cigarette butts and glass fragments accounted for the most.

In recent years, waste and rubbish have been washed ashore on the beach. These micro-garbage not only threaten the survival of marine life, but also have the opportunity to enter the food chain, causing the public to ingest toxic substances in their daily diet and causing health problems. Through this event, in addition to raising awareness of coastal cleanliness and improving the bad habit of polluting the ocean, hope that everyone will work together to reduce waste at the source, especially reducing the use of disposable plastic or glass bottles, to protect Hong Kong coastal environment.

AEON Cheers Club:

Since 2014, AEON has established the“AEON Cheers Club”which recruits members aged 6 to 14 and organizes interesting educational activities for them to learn about nature and environment. It aims to foster the interest of young generation for nature and to understand the importance of environmental conservation.
