AEON Volunteer Day: Lunch Box Preparation Activity

On 25th September, AEON volunteer team joined one of the voluntary works from Food Angel - “Lunch Box Preparation”. In the Chai Wan Central Kitchen, they helped to prepare 2,160 meal boxes so as to contribute to the community.

AEON has maintained its commitment to pursuing peace and contributing to society by carrying out various corporate social responsibility activities, organizing a variety of social activities every month. At the same time, AEON has participated different food recycling projects which aim to help those in need and to raise the awareness of treasuring food as a precious resource. Through this activity, we hope to convey the messages of "Treasuring Resources" and "Caring Community" in order to raise the environmental awareness of participants; also, to practice waste reduction and recycling in daily life to protect the ecological environment.

Food Angel rescues edible surplus food from different sectors of the food industry that would otherwise be disposed of as waste. Following strict safety protocols, the rescued food items will then be prepared as nutritious meals in the central kitchens and food packs. They will be distributed to serve the underprivileged communities in Hong Kong.

Currently, Food Angel rescues 45 tonnes of edible surplus food each week, producing over 20,000 nutritious meals and helps distribute over 11,000 other meals and food packs daily free of charge for people who are in need of food assistance.
