AEON Volunteer Team: Lobster Bay Hillside and Coastal Cleanup Activity

On 16th January, the AEON Volunteer Team, in collaboration with Green Hope, organized a hillside and coastal cleanup activity, actively contributing to the community.

AEON has always been committed to making a difference for the environment and contributing to sustainable development in society through various initiatives. Every year, AEON collaborates with different stakeholders to organize community cleanup activities in various districts across Hong Kong, aiming to protect the environment while fostering community connections.

In recent years, due to the pandemic, hiking has become a beloved outdoor activity for Hong Kong residents. However, it has also intensified the issue of hillside pollution, causing harm to the ecological environment. In just a few hours, the AEON Volunteer Team collected over 30 large bags of trash, weighing a total of 45 kilograms, during the hillside and coastal cleanup activity. The collected garbage encompassed a wide variety, with items such as tissue papers, cigarette butts, food packaging bags being the most prevalent. Additionally, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, takeaway containers, construction materials, and masks were also found, highlighting the severity of the problem.

Through this hillside and coastal cleanup activity, the aim is to promote messages such as "Leave No Trace" and "Cherish Nature" to enhance participants' environmental awareness. It is hoped that the participants will put these principles into practice in their daily lives by actively engaging in waste reduction and recycling, ultimately protecting the ecological environment.
