AEON Volunteer Team: EcoPark Visit

On 22nd February, a group of AEON staff visited the EcoPark located in Tuen Mun to learn about different methods of urban solid waste management, how to reduce waste generation, and the waste recycling process, thereby strengthening their environmental awareness.

AEON has been actively promoting resource recycling and making contributions to environmental and social sustainability through various initiatives. As early as 2013 and 2015, AEON participated in "Food Waste Recycling Programme" and "Waste Cooking Oil Recycling Program", actively implementing resource recycling in stores, and promoting reuse and transformation into other useful resources. Over the years, AEON has been awarded the "Friends of EcoPark" by the Environment and Ecology Bureau in recognition of its contribution to the environment in Hong Kong.

During the visit, AEON staff had the opportunity to understand the facilities in the park and how different types of recyclable materials are transformed into useful resources. In particular, waste cooking oil collected from AEON stores is converted into biodiesel, reducing the pressure on landfills. “Municipal Solid Waste Charging Scheme” in Hong Kong will be officially implemented in August. Participants are expected to practice and promote the "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" culture from both personal and work levels, and contribute to achieving "carbon neutrality".
