AEON Volunteer Team: Lung Ku Beach Coastal Cleanup Activity

On February 23, a lot of 17 AEON Volunteers joined hands with Greeners Action and visited Lung Ku Tan in Tuen Mun to clean up garbage on the beach, combating plastic pollution and marine waste, and contributing to a cleaner and better coastal environment!

AEON has always been committed to promoting environmental protection and contributing to the sustainable development of society through various initiatives. Every year, AEON organizes clean-up activities with different stakeholders in various districts across Hong Kong, not only protecting the environment but also connecting with the community.

This coastal cleanup took place at Lung Ku Tan in Tuen Mun. As there is a barbecue sites nearby, holiday visitors often leave behind various types waste, exacerbating the problem of coastal pollution. In just a few hours of beach cleaning, the AEON Volunteer Team collected over 17 bags of garbage, weighing a total of 42.6 kilograms! Among the waste, cans, plastic bottles, and Styrofoam made up the majority, highlighting the severity of human-induced damage to the ecological environment.

Through this beach cleanup activity, we hope to convey the messages of "Cherish Nature" and "Reduce Waste and Recycle," and raise participants' environmental awareness. The volunteers expressed that they were very happy to take part in the activity, finding it was very meaningful to contribute to the preservation of Hong Kong's natural environment.
